Colombia Highlights: Bogotá, Medellín & Caribbean Coast

This 10-day journey brings together four of Colombia’s most distinctive destinations: Bogotá, Medellín, Santa Marta, and Cartagena. Along the way, experience the country’s historic heritage, mountain landscapes, colorful towns, and Caribbean scenery, with time to see each destination from a different perspective.

From the historic streets of Bogotá and the underground Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá to Guatapé, Tayrona National Park, and Cartagena’s culinary traditions, the itinerary combines cultural experiences, outdoor excursions, and time to enjoy Colombia at a comfortable pace.

Day 1 – Welcome to Bogotá: The Journey Begins

Upon arrival in Bogotá, a transfer will take you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free, allowing you to rest after your journey or start getting acquainted with Colombia’s capital at your own pace.

Day 2 – Bogotá: History Along the Historic Streets

Today’s walking tour takes you through Bogotá’s historic center, including the traditional neighborhood of La Candelaria. Along the way, admire colonial architecture, historic plazas, and some of the city’s most characteristic streets while learning about its cultural and historical background.

Day 3 – Zipaquirá & the Salt Cathedral: Beneath the Surface

Leave Bogotá behind for a day trip to Zipaquirá and its remarkable Salt Cathedral. Set within the tunnels of a former salt mine, this unique attraction combines striking underground spaces with an important part of the region’s history before returning to Bogotá.

Day 4 – Medellín: From Bogotá to the City of Eternal Spring

Travel from Bogotá to Medellín and, once there, set out on a half-day city tour. Get a first look at Medellín’s main areas and landmarks while learning about the city’s history, culture, and transformation.

Day 5 – Guatapé & El Peñol: Lakes, Rock & Colorful Streets

A full day is dedicated to Guatapé and El Peñol Rock. In Guatapé, take in the town’s colorful facades and distinctive architectural details, then continue toward El Peñol for impressive views across the surrounding lakes and mountainous landscape.

Day 6 – Santa Marta: From Medellín to the Caribbean Coast

Day 7 – Tayrona National Park & Cabo San Juan: Into the Caribbean Landscape

Day 8 – Cartagena: A Free Afternoon by the Caribbean

Day 9 – Cartagena: Local Market & Colombian Cooking
